Jonathan Matthews trained in "furniture making and design" at Rycotewood College, Thame, Oxfordshire, between 1990/94. After training he initially worked for Viscount Linley in Cheltenham. He then moved to Weymouth, working for a local cabinet maker.
In 2002 he started his own firm, J.M.Designs, in a workshop outside Dorchester. This firm of furniture makers uses mainly European hardwoods and veneers. They have skills in marquetry, and curved laminate work, to name a few, and use these in the varied commissions undertaken.
Please look over our website to see some of the furniture we have made, and the variety of our work.
Below are a few photos of some recent commissions.
